In Chug, I asked men to tell me a story from their past. Through the retelling of a story, the viewer experiences a performance or recreation of the emotions and sensations that the men experienced. The paired clips expose the similar strategies used to express oneself, to perform a moment of sincerity, and to convince another person of the significance of the lived experience. The pairings also display the struggle of expressing oneself in a clear, uninterrupted manner- the rest between emotions and memories and the signs of discomfort and vulnerability.
