Docuvision, digital video (6 mins, 36 secs) and digital photography, dimensions variable, 2008
This time-lapse video consists of digital photographs of families watching television- shot every 30 seconds for the duration of their evening viewing. When this piece was made, it reflected the time period in which the television was very central- the evening gathering place. I was interesting in capturing our habits and interactions in that environment. I set out to make a critique about our reliance on a screen to bring us together. But, honestly, I was surprised at the intimacy and connection that I saw- like gathering around a warm fire.
