Domesticity was a site-specific sculpture installed in 2014 in a servant’s bedroom at Birdsell Mansion- a historic 1800s abandoned mansion in South Bend, Indiana. The work responds to domestic life; in particular, the relational experiences derived through sharing intimate space with another person. Inside the walls of any complex intimate relationship, we experience shifts and swells of emotional interaction that enhance, direct, destruct and reveal. Each wall represents an aspect of a relationship- passion/anger, love/companionship, and individuality/stubborn rigidity.
